There are several islands nearby, which can be easily reached by ferry. The island of Cozumel can reached in about 30 minutes and is considered one of the best scuba diving locations in the world. Cruises to nearby Isla Mujeres and the bird sanctuary of Isla Controy are also easily arranged.
