There are lots of places to explore while staying at Luna Azul. There are two beaches here, Akumal Bay and Half Moon BayThe beach just outside your back door is a great start. Half Moon Bay is a beautiful white sand beach that's nice and soft on your feet.  The sand is so white that it never gets too hot to walk on.  If you're here during May or June you may be lucky enough to witness a Sea Turtle laying eggs.  Half Moon Bay also provides some of the best beginners' snorkeling in the area.

There are many Ancient Mayan Ruins in the area.
Tulum sits on the coast and was a port city used for commerce. It boasts a breathtaking view of the Caribbean Sea and a beautiful small beach.  About an hours drive inland sits the massive ruins of Coba.  This city once boasted a population of over 50,000 Maya citizens. Coba is also has beautiful ruins, with the highlight being a fantastic pyramid.
Lol Ha is Akumal's oldest and many say it's finest restaurant. There is fine dining inside and on the porch overlooking Akumal Bay.  The beach bar has cheeseburgers and excellent pizza.  Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  All restaurants in the area use purified water to wash vegetables and other food, and to make ice.  US dollars and Mexican pesos are accepted.  Charge cards are not accepted unless otherwise noted.

From your home on the magic white sand of Half Moon Bay, magic because it is never so hot that it burns your feet, you can walk barefoot and look out over the clear blue water to the distant horizon.  You will need your shoes to walk to the local wonder of Yalku lagoon.  The lagoon is a nationally protected area that resembles an outdoor aquarium. Snorkeling there will introduce you to the variety of colorful tropical fish that are part of this ecosystem.  Another fascinating spot is Lagartos Lagoon.  Ask at the ecological center for a guide to take you on the hidden paths through the jungle to this place that is from out of time.

At sunset watch the birds returning home to the lagoon.  At sunrise watch the daily spectacular show, checking the waters of the bay below for turtle or parrot fish.  In these deluxe condos you will be surrounded by the beauty of nature while indulging in the comforts of home.
